1- The Weather

During the second week of October in Marrakech, you can expect warm, pleasant days with daytime highs around 28–33 °C (82–91 °F) and low humidity. Evenings are cooler, dropping to 14–17 °C (57–63 °F), so a light jacket or wrap will be useful.

  • Rain is uncommon, though a light shower is possible.

  • Around 8 hours of sunshine per day provide plenty of daylight for exploring.

We encourage you to check the local forecast before packing.

2- Confidentiality & Media Guidelines – Mont Pelerin Society

To protect the integrity of candid discussions:

  • Meetings are closed to the working media (though journalists may attend as non-working participants).

  • The Chatham House Rule applies: participants may use the information received but may not reveal the identity or affiliation of speakers or participants.

  • All personal and group conversations are private and may not be reported.

  • No social media reporting of remarks made during the conference.

  • No recording or streaming is permitted, except for official set-piece speeches.

3- Dress Code

Opening & Closing Receptions/Dinners: Business or cocktail attire.

Conference Sessions: Business casual.

Excursion (Friday): Casual, comfortable clothing with walking shoes.

5- Excursion

The Friday excursion will include a guided cultural and historical experience inside Marrakech, with opportunities to enjoy the city’s scenery, history, and cuisine.

An email will be sent to you in the coming days to confirm your afternoon excursion’s option.

6- Dinner Recommendations – Wednesday Night

Participants are free to make their own dinner arrangements. Conference Sponsors will gather for dinner at La Villa des Orangers. Marrakech is renowned for its vibrant culinary scene, blending Moroccan tradition with international flair. 8- Getting to the Conference Venue

The Es Saadi Palace is the conference venue. The Es Saadi Hotel (where many participants will be staying) is located nearby. Both are situated in the Hivernage neighbourhood, just minutes from Marrakech’s Medina.

From Marrakech Menara Airport (RAK) → Es Saadi Resort – Palace

a- Taxi

  • Readily available (official taxi stand outside arrivals)

  • 10–15 minutes

  • 200 MAD (≈ 22 USD)

  • Always agree on the fare before departure

b- Private Transfer

  • Pre-arranged, driver meets you with a name sign

  • 200–300 MAD (≈ 22–33 USD)

c- Rental Car

  • Available at airport arrivals

  • Free parking at resort

  • 300–500 MAD/day (≈ 30–50 USD/day)

From Casablanca Mohammed V Airport (CMN) → Es Saadi Resort – Palace

a- By Car (self-drive or taxi)

  • 2.5–3 hour drive (240 km via A7 motorway)

  • Taxi: 1,200–1,600 MAD (≈ 120–160 USD, negotiable)

  • Rental car: 350–600 MAD/day (≈ 35–60 USD/day)

b- By Train

  • Train station in airport (Terminal 1, basement level)

  • Route: CMN → Casablanca Voyageurs → Marrakech

  • 3.5–4 hours in total

  • 150–200 MAD (≈ 15–20 USD)

  • Taxi from Marrakech station → Es Saadi: 50–70 MAD (≈ 5–7 USD)

c- Private Transfer

  • Pre-book online (Viator, Welcome Pickups, GetTransfer, etc.)

  • 2.5–3 hours direct

  • 1,200–1,800 MAD (≈ 120–180 USD)

9- Money & Payments

  • Currency: Moroccan Dirham (MAD).

  • ATMs are widely available in Marrakech, including at the airport and near the hotel.

  • Credit cards are accepted at major hotels and restaurants, but smaller shops and taxis only accept cash.

10- Connectivity

  • Es Saadi Palace provides free Wi-Fi for non-residents : Wi-Fi: Es_saadi Marrakech Resort
    To access to Wi-Fi scroll down and click on “Day Vistor”, accept the conditions and you will be automatically connected. 
  • Local SIM cards (Maroc Telecom, Orange, Inwi) are available at the airport.

  • Power sockets: Type C & E (same as in most of Europe, 220V).

11- Health & Safety

  • Tap water is not recommended for drinking – opt for bottled water.

  • Marrakech is generally safe, but remain cautious with valuables in busy areas.
